Everyone is familiar with traditional window coverings like blinds, shades and drapes, but many people are unaware of residential window films and window tinting. Window tinting isn’t just for cars. Residential window film is an eco-friendly window treatment that gives your home a sleek, put together appearance. Residential Window Tinting: Effective & Efficient
Your home is the one place where you should be able to feel relaxed and comfortable as often as possible. When you’re too hot or cold it’s hard to be content. Fortunately, the window film can help to alleviate this concern.
We have ample warm days here in Sacramento, CA. While this is great for outdoor activities, it can create uncomfortable interior temperatures. Window film helps keep your home cooler by blocking UV and infrared light. Window film allows ample visible light to pass through your glass but rejects up to 97% of infrared and rays. By preventing heat-causing light to enter your home, your home energy costs will decrease over time. Window film also becomes carbon neutral in as few as six months following installation.
Additional Benefits of Window Tinting
We love how window tinting is good for your bank account and Mother Nature but tinting your home’s windows offers other fantastic benefits.
- Increased Privacy: There’s no denying that we live in an information age. This is incredibly beneficial for some things, but you don’t want the interior of your home to be on display to the public. Window film obscures the view into your home without completely eliminating your ability to see outside.
- Skin Protection: You may think that being indoors means your skin isn’t at risk for sun damage. Unfortunately, that’s not the case. If you’re sitting near an untreated window, you’re being bombarded with up to 75% of the sun’s harmful UVA and UVB rays. Window film protects you from the majority of these rays so you can enjoy sunlight without a sunburn.
- Safety: What happens when a window breaks? When your windows are untreated, the glass shatters and flies everywhere. When you have film on your windows, it helps to hold the glass together if it’s broken. It doesn’t protect your windows from breaking, but it will help decrease the amount of sharp glass on your floor.
- Longevity: Residential window film is a lasting investment. You can rest assured that your window film will last for many years and give you an excellent return on your investment.
- Glare Reduction: When the sun is rising or setting, it can create annoying glares that make it difficult to watch TV or use a computer. The amount of glare reduction will depend on the darkness of the film you choose. We’re happy to help you choose the perfect level of tint for your home.
- Enhanced Aesthetics: Window film gives your home’s exterior a more uniform appearance. Even if you have traditional window treatments with a neutral back, the aesthetic is lost when you open the shades or drapes.
Window Film Maintenance
The perks of window film are undeniable but what about the upkeep? It may seem too good to be true but caring for tinted windows is incredibly easy. Since it is less porous than glass, window film will not accumulate dirt as quickly as glass, which means less housework for you. Allow your window film to cure for 30 days before cleaning it for the first time. You can use a regular window cleaner, like Windex, and a soft microfiber cloth for cleaning. To prevent scratches, avoid using any abrasive cleaners or brushes, and always ensure you dry the window surface when you’re finished cleaning. If you’re cleaning the exterior side of your windows on the same day, use separate cloths for the interior and exterior glass.
